PETE AND REPEAT
Is it possible to hold a conversation just once and let it go without ever hearing it repeated again? Why must some people keep bringing up the past old dramas never to allow them to rest in peace? Why is there a need for some, to keep reminding us of things that have happened six months ago, or a year ago and throw it in your face over and over. Can't we just let the past be past and move forward?
Maybe the answer lies in the fact that we are all creatures of habit. Sure there are many repetitive processes that we can not live without. We eat and sleep and repeat the cycle over and over. Maybe we think everything else has to be repetitive too but it doesn't.
We all have memories. In fact we have an amazing filing system built within each of us where we store things from our past. Many we would like to forget. However there is always someone ready to bring them up for us. Why is that? How can we open ourselves up to embrace the future if our hands are full by holding on to the past? The fact is we can't.
When you feel that something has been going on for far too long, you must put a stop to it. It's as simple as making a decision that it's time to change it and you will be able to.
When someone brings something up to us from the past how do we stop it? It's pretty simple really. We must let them know we've moved on and let it go, because our past is something we learn and grow from. Once the lesson has been learned it must be put to rest. That's it. No more no less. Making the choice to move forward is our own choice. Let the past dwell where it belongs and embrace our future with wisdom and open arms.
