DOING YOUR BEST

What is the best? Is it something you can eat, listen to, live in, earn or win? We are entitled to the very best but to each of us the meaning of “the best” differs from person to person. It could be doing a job you love doing for good money, it could be a relationship that lifts you up and validates your happiness. What one might feel is totally awesome someone else will see differently. Each of our “bests” is personal so we must live by our own measurements and expectations.

The “best” of us is not a skill; it’s an attitude, one with a lot of power to overcome many obstacles. Achieving your best does not come from having money or wisdom. It simply comes from committing to do the best you can with what you have. Doing our best does not mean perfection. Sometimes we allow our standards to become more important than our peace and contentment. Remember you are not perfect but doing your best or giving your best is your own perfection. There will always be someone who can do it better. That has nothing to do with “your” best. Be happy in realizing your best is yours alone and be happy in that.

The way I see it, the best is something we each have within us. It’s there to use, to share and to give. It begins by believing in you and knowing you can make a difference in the lives of others. Take a deep look at yourself and what you consider valuable so that you can live a good life. Achieving your dreams and finding personal success will come to you only if you give your best to the world in all situations.

Embrace and accept the person you are and your bests. Begin by making small healthy choices and over time they will give you peace of mind. It’s time we as individuals begin working out, sculpting and toning our inner selves not just the outer shell.

If you are doing your best in everything you can – there is nothing more anyone can ask of you.
